Stephanie as a Piano Teacher

Stephanie Christianto, B.Mus (Hons), M.Mus, NCTM, is a pianist, composer, and Nationally Certified Teacher of Music based in Gading Serpong, Indonesia. She completed a double Master of Music degree at Baylor University School of Music on full scholarship and graduated with Distinction as Pi Kappa Lambda, specializing in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, and Composition. Stephanie served as Graduate Teaching Associate in piano pedagogy, music theory and musicianship, and composition at both undergraduate and graduate levels at Baylor University, Texas, USA. Her experiences include, teaching undergraduate piano minors, class piano for beginning piano students, Baylor’s Piano Laboratory Program, as well as assisting the Music Theory and Composition Faculty in developing Music Theory Curriculum and Composition Projects. .

Graduated with honours from HKU Utrechts Conservatorium, The Netherlands, she has experience in teaching piano to students of all ages in private and group class setting, as well as judging the Central Texas Music Teacher Association (CTMTA) Piano Competition, Texas Music Teacher Association (TMTA) All Stars Festival, presenting as a guest speaker at the Waco Music Teacher Association (WMTA), Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) National Conference, and Texas Music Teacher Association (TMTA) Conference. Her approach to teaching emphasizes not only technical excellence, but also the development of emotional and mental well-being, recognizing the unique challenges that musicians face in maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the HKU Utrechts Conservatroium, The Netherlands, Double Master’s of Music (first Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy and second Master of Music in Composition) from Baylor University, USA.

Music Organization Affiliations and Professional Certifications

Stephanie is a member of Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) and Texas Music Teacher Association (TMTA), and International Piano Professionals Association (IPPA) in the United States. She also served as Vice President of Baylor University Music Teacher National Association Chapter (BUMTNA) in 2023-2024. She is holding a National Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) from Music Teacher National Association in the United States, and have acquired teaching qualifications from Yamaha High Grade in Classical Piano Performance, Yamaha Electone, and Fundamentals (Theory) and the Associated Board Royal School of Music (ABRSM London) in Classical Piano Performance and Music Theory.

Piano Teaching Curriculum

Stephanie is based in Waco, Texas, and teaching students of all ages from children and adult beginner, to advanced level with European - American Standard with selections of classical piano, piano improvisation, music theory, recreational music making, preparation class for university or conservatory entrance auditions, ABRSM Exams, and competition in one-hour format. The curriculum is individually tailored according to the student’s need.
